Although California’s Obamacare exchange, Covered California, has performed poorly, the agency’s Executive Director, Peter Lee, received a 26.8% raise and $65,000 bonus on top of his base salary of $333,120. The agency expects to run an operating deficit of $98 million next year, has received the lowest possible one star rating on Yelp and was exposed by former CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson for “gross incompetence and mismanagement.” These issues all raise the question of whether a lavish bonus is appropriate, writes Investor’s Business Daily.
