The recent defeat of Los Angeles’ proposed Measure EE tax increase should send a message to state policymakers that voters are fed up with ever-increasing taxes that fail to deliver the promised benefits, writes the San Francisco Chronicle. The proposed “split roll” initiative to eliminate Prop. 13 protections for businesses highlights officials failure to get the message. This tax hike would accelerate the exodus of businesses from the state while failing to deliver on the necessary reforms needed to actually improve the state of education in California.
