A new report by the State Auditor has revealed the state spent $44 billion on noncompetitive contracts worth $1 million or more between 2011 and 2016. The Sacramento Bee notes these contracts have included a $835 million amendment to a Medi-Cal dental contract, a $75.5 million extension of a DMV contract for license production, and a $27.8 million amendment to a Cal Fire aviation contract.
