America is a nation of consumers, but that identity might have to change to reflect more up to date information. CNS News is reporting that a recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report on consumer expenditures reveals that Americans actually spend more on taxes than they do on consumer goods. In 2017, Americans spent an average of $9,562 on food and clothing but an average of $16,749 on federal, state and local taxes.
