Costs associated with Medi-Cal including the introduction of Obamacare, growing expenses for public retiree benefits and possible future inclusion of illegal immigrants in the program, could pose a serious challenge for the state budget, reports the Los Angeles Times. The Governor has promised to keep a tight leash on spending, but Assembly Speaker Tori Atkins is urging $300 million in new spending to encourage more doctors to participate in the program.
