California has some of the highest gas prices in the nation, with gas taxes that are calculated as a percentage of the whole price of a gallon of fuel. Aside from the gas tax alone, there are a host of other reasons California’s drivers suffer from high gas prices, such as draconianly strict fuel-formula mixture policies and lack of interstate pipelines to decrease the need for imported gasoline, writes Chris White of Western Journal.
