Beginning in December of this year, state lawmakers will receive their fifth pay raise in five years. Jerry Brown’s pay will almost reach $200,000/year and the legislature will be raised to almost $110,000/year. In 2009, Proposition 1F banned pay raises during years of state budget deficits while a commission slashed lawmaker salaries by 20%. Lawmakers have almost made up the 20% reduction over the last 5 years.
