A Sacramento mining operation, run by the Hardesty and Schneider families, won a $100 million court case against the County of Sacramento, after the jury determined the county government put the operation out of business to favor a rival company, Teichert Construction. The Sac Bee reports that Sacramento County and its elected officials had been the beneficiaries of donations from Teichert lobbyists for several years and that Teichert’s attempt to get the county to shut down the Hardesty/Schneider operation had been going on for several years as well.
