The California bullet train project has largely been seen as a failure with cost estimates rising each year. However, it is only now that the project will be able to request money from the bond passed in 2008 to help pay for the project. In order to build a fully functional test line, it will cost nearly $8 billion, and $2.6 billion will come from Prop 1A, which is straight from the taxpayers’ pockets.
