A pension reform measure that San Diego voters approved overwhelmingly was recently overturned in a questionable decision by the Pension Employment Relations Board (PERB), writes Steven Greenhut in City Journal. While the measure was considered a model policy and received 66 percent of the vote, most PERB officials have previously worked for the government employee unions that opposed the policy, raising serious questions about whether their decision was impartial.
