Despite high profile failures such as Solyndra, Fisker and Abound Solar, the Department of Energy has restarted its fuel efficient vehicle and green energy loan program with a $259 million award to Alcoa, reports HotAir.com. Although Alcoa does not appear to need taxpayer-funded subsidies due to its $24 billion in revenue, some observers suggest campaign donations to the Obama campaign by the corporation’s top management may have played a role.
