A proposed statewide ballot initiative, titled The Schools and Local Communities Funding Act, has been postponed till 2020 in an effort to gather more support, reports Mike Antonucci in this week’s LA School Report. The initiative would end Proposition 13 protections for commercial and industrial businesses with more than 50 employees. The California Teachers Association has yet to endorse the measure and is likely the reason why supporters are delaying the initiative, as the CTA would likely need to fund the bulk of the initiative. However, the California Business Roundtable has promised a “fight to the death” against the measure.
