Proposition 30, a supposedly temporary measure that raised sales and income taxes, should be repealed argues Pacific Research Institute senior fellow Wayne Winegarden in the Orange County Register. The tax increase has played a role in driving away major employers and productive citizens while failing to solve the political establishment’s inability to live within its means. Because out of control spending is the real problem, continuing the tax increase would be like trying to save a shopaholic from bankruptcy by giving them a raise, Winegarden says.
