California’s largest Taxpayer group: “Stop the Energy Tax!”
Sacramento — The driving force behind the defeat of last year’s Prop. 1A ÛÒ the $16 billion tax increase ÛÒ is now setting its sights on defeating California’s $180 billion “Energy Tax.”
“No New Taxes” ÛÒ a project of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association ÛÒ announced today it is joining the ballot measure campaign to suspend California’s overreaching global warming mandate until the Economy improves.
“AB 32 won’t help curb global warming one bit; however it will affect nearly every corner of California life” said Jon Coupal President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and Chairman of the No New Taxes committee. “AB 32 will cause a 60 percent increase in Californians’ electricity bills an 8 percent increase in natural gas bills a $50000 increase in the price of a new home and more than 1 million more jobs losses at a time when our state is bleeding jobs. AB 32 will drive the final stake through the heart of California’s economy.”
The “Energy Tax” will cost California a whopping $180 billion in lost output during an already severe recession.
