Sacramento ÛÒ The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association released the following statement today following Governor Jerry Brown’s May Revise announcement:
Governor Brown has missed the mark again.
“There’s a fine line between being a ‘buoyant optimist’ and just plain delusional” said Jon Coupal President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. “Nearly a year and a half into his Governorship Jerry Brown has yet to deal with the realities of the State budget crisis he claimed he would fix.”
With a now-$16 Billion budget gap millions of Californians unemployed and the State looking down the barrel of nearly $6 Billion in trigger cuts Jerry Brown has failed to fix a State budget process he claimed to know so much about. Instead of taking responsibility for his administration’s failed policies he blames others.
“What is even more stunning is the Governor’s statement that needed reforms would have to wait until after his proposed tax hikes. The voters aren’t buying Jerry Brown’s tax proposal because they understand that increasing the already-high state tax burden is not the answer to our problems — problems that are created by Sacramento” added Coupal.
