Sacramento — The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association has released the following statement regarding Governor Jerry Brown’s signing of SB 202:
"By signing the government employee unions-backed bill to move ballot measures to the general election ballot next year and postpone for two years a public vote on requiring the state to maintain a prudent reserve Jerry Brown leaves no doubt as to who calls the tune. The governor is the creature of the unions representing the highest-compensated state workers in the nation and when they say jump he says "How high?" It should be noted that in his signing message Brown refers to when initiatives started being placed on the June ballot the 1970s. Brown fails to mention that it was he who as Secretary of State established this practice which he now finds objectionable."
