The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association will host a public luncheon on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Murphys Historic Hotel.
The group will honor County Board of Supervisors Secretary, Diane Severud, with the 2015 Excellence in Public Service Award. Diane works diligently handling a huge amount of information, always with good cheer and transparency.
Diane will also receive recognition from State Senator Tom Berryhill and State Assemblyman Frank Bigelow. County Board of Supervisors Chair, Cliff Edson will act on behalf of the state representatives in presenting their certificates and County CAO Shirley Ryan will say a few words about Diane.
Keynote speaker Jon Coupal, President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association who will be talking about issues facing taxpayers in 2015 and 2016. He is suing the state to reverse the controversial Fire Fee and will report on the latest developments.
Also speaking will be Jonathan Wood, Attorney for the Pacific Legal Foundation who recently won a major case against extreme environmental regulation, protecting property rights.
The buffet luncheon costs $25 and will run from Noon to 2 p.m. The hotel is at 457 Main Street in downtown Murphys.
There will be a happy fund raising raffle and special entertainment.
