Sacramento ÛÒ The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association’s No New Taxes committee has launched a campaign to educate the public about Governor Jerry Brown’s misleading tax measure.
The state’s largest taxpayer association has grown increasingly concerned that voters are being misled about Jerry Brown’s tax increase initiative with the radical California Teachers Federation. The tax increase advocates are circulating their measure under the guise that it actually helps our schools. Make no mistake this measure couldn’t be more misleading right down to its very title “The Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act of 2012.”
“The revenue raised from Jerry’s potential initiative would go into California’s General Fund ÛÒ there’s no guarantee that it will fund education” said Jon Coupal President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. “Given that the state’s retirement funds are so far underwater that they’re being viewed by James Cameron odds are high that any new tax revenue will go directly to pension benefits.”
But voters don’t have to fall victim to Jerry Brown’s scheme. The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association highlights that the power of the people can prevail over the special interests in Sacramento ÛÒ just as it did when HJTA fought Proposition 1A. In that battle the organization was outspent 20 to 1 and roundly beat the tax raisers.
